This Special Issue aims to whet the appetite of readers who wish to better understand the historical roots and complexities of the Chinese style of management.

This is particularly pertinent in a dynamic global market where China is increasingly playing a more important role in re-defining how the world trading system is to be played.

What, then, is Chinese management? Obviously, there are bound to be differences in its definition and understanding given the long history of Chinese civilization and the unique characteristics of Chinese culture. However, most people will agree with the International Association of Chinese Management Research's definition which broadly defined this to mean the management of Chinese organizations operating within the Chinese mainland, Chinese businesses operating outside of the Chinese mainland, and multinational corporations operating in any of the above Chinese contexts.
