John Ward is The Wild Group Professor of Family Business at IMD, co-director of IMD's renowned 'Leading the Family Business' programme, on which he has taught since its inception in 1988, and co-director of the business school's Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie. Family Business Research Centre.
He is also a professor at the Kellogg School of Management in the USA. Professor Ward's teaching and research interests are in family enterprise continuity, governance, company culture, philanthropy, and sustainable strategy. John Ward serves on the boards of four companies and three not-for-profit organizations in Europe and the USA.
Ward has authored several books including the bestselling Keeping the Family Business Healthy, Creating Effective Boards for Private Enterprises, Strategic Planning for the Family Business, and Perpetuating the Family Business. He is also the editor of the recently published Unconventional Wisdom - Counterintuitive Insights for Family Business Success (John Wiley 2005).
