Interview by: Alistair Craven

Tom Schmitt is President and CEO of FedEx Global Supply Chain Services and Senior Vice President of FedEx Solutions.

Tom is responsible for the strategic direction and performance of the company’s global supply chain organization. He also has responsibility for a wide range of customer, sales, and operations solutions across the FedEx operating companies.

He came to FedEx after an eight-year stint with McKinsey & Co, which is considered to be one of the world’s most prestigious consulting firms. Prior to his work at McKinsey, Tom worked for London-based British Petroleum (BP) where his work included project management and financial analysis.

He transformed the Solutions division of FedEx Services from a 40-person unit to a high-performance, 500-member team.

Arnold Perl, a partner at the US labour and employment firm of Ford & Harrison LLP, has been a practising management attorney for more than 30 years.

A civic leader in his native Memphis, he supervised the construction of the city's FedExForum, a project that brought the city a professional sports team.

Arnold also serves as Chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, shaping and directing the decisions of Memphis’ economic engine and as Chairman of the New Memphis Arena Public Building Authority.
