Professor Colin Mellors is Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of York and Director of Higher Education Strategy for Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency.

He is a member of the Yorkshire and Humber EU Objective 2 Programme Monitoring Committee and Objective 2 Programme Management Board, Deputy Chair of Bradford Breakthrough, the city’s business leadership group, a non-executive member of the Corporate Management Board of the Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber, and a member of the Boundary Committee for England. Colin Mellors was the founder Chair of the Board of Yorkshire and Humberside Universities Association and the Board of YHMAN (the metropolitan area IT network).

Previously Professor Mellors was Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Bradford, with responsibility for External Relations, Business and Regional Development, and Resources. During his time at the university he established the European Briefing Unit. A political scientist, Colin Mellors has taught at Bradford, Sheffield and Southampton universities. He continues to research and write in the field of political science.
